At the We Are Developers conference (13.4.2016), at the ViennaJS Meetup (27.4.), and at the AngularJS Vienna Meetup (11.5.) I was presenting my talk “Simple Mobile Development With Ionic”.
I presented Ionic as a hybrid mobile development framework (with a hands on experience @ AngularJS Vienna) and show-casing the app development of LIKE A HIPSTER.

The “Superheroic JavaScript MVW Framework” AngularJS is a state of the art JavaScript tool for single page web applications that offers a lot which JS alone does not – namely structure. As Java Developers we like the law and order of object oriented Java with all its tools; so I would like to show how pleased I was after discovering AngularJS for front end development (instead of JSF or Spring MVC).

The “Superheroic JavaScript MVW Framework” AngularJS is a state of the art JavaScript tool for single page web applications that offers a lot which JS alone does not – namely structure. As Java Developers we like the law and order of object oriented Java with all its tools; so I would like to show how pleased I was after discovering AngularJS for front-end development (instead of JSF or Spring MVC).
In my presentation I will give a short introduction on basic principles of MVC in Java and point out some common solutions (JSP, Spring MVC…). Then I will continue with a description of AngularJS (Google yay!) and how client-side model–view–controller (MVC) can be achieved with Angular. Next I am going to show you how structure will be enforced by using extended HTML and JS vocabulary with modules, directives, and controllers (ng-what?? no JS/HTML mix). I will continue by answering the question of the implementation of the back-end (REST via jQuery) and add an overview of supporting state of the art frameworks (npm FTW!, bower, gulp, less, coffee script / jasmine, jade, bootstrap, lodash…). I am going to finish with some best practices and the downsides of Angular (no pain, no gain).
This talk is suitable for (intermediate and higher) Java (or JS) front-end developers who are eager to try out new front-end frameworks and principles. Some code examples will be presented on slides. If there is enough time left, I’ll show a live demo.

Dieses Jahr hab auch ich mich zur re:publica in Berlin eingefunden, einer Konferenz über digitale Medien – dem Woodstock für Onliner.
Neben zahlreichen Österreichern (twittert denn gerade überhaupt jemand aus Wien?!) sind selbstverständlich viele andere internationale Gäste zum selbsternannten “Happening” gepilgert. Ob es die Reise wert war, weiß ich noch nicht, allerdings kann ich schon vorab den ersten Tag kurz resümieren: Viel Interessantes, viel Fades, viel Inspirierendes – wie auf jeder Konferenz.
Eine Zusammenfassung der Konferenz folgt selbstverständlich.
Jetzt war ich mit dem Jobwechsel so beschäftigt, dass ich ganz vergessen habe mein 5 jähriges Bloggerdasein zu feiern. Am 13.4.2005 gab’s meinen ersten Blog-Beitrag (damals noch auf twoday.net), dann den Wechsel auf electrobabe.at, gefolgt von einem sehr erfolgreichen Spinnoff mit papierwahl.at im Oktober 2008!
Es hat sich einiges im Umgang mit den “neuen Medien” in den letzten Jahren verändert. Es gibt ein wesentlich größeres Angebot an unterschiedlichen Plattformen und Apps. Man twittert mehr Kurzes oder schreibt auf Facebook, ist vernetzter, und Blogs mit langen Beiträgen gehören (fast) schon zum alten Eisen. Wie es sugarmelon so treffend in Holiday 2.0 A Digital Holiday Mindshift beschrieb, haben wir früher unsere Urlaubsfotos nach dem Urlaub vielleicht auf private HOMEpages hochgeladen und heute geschieht dies praktisch instant mit dem Internet-Handy auf Facebook oder flickr.
Einige Social Media-Queens in Österreich (darunter auch ich) haben sich zusammengetan und das Girl Geek Dinner in Wien (kurz GGDV) begründet. Der Anlass: Austauch von Frauen im Web-Umfeld zu allerlei Themen – und gutes Essen. Ein Wiki, die Facebook-Gruppe und die Xing-Gruppe dienen zum Vernetzen und sind offen für weitere Teilnehmerinnen:
Wer “Geek Girl Dinner” beitreten mag, ist weiblich, Geek, bloggt, bastelt an Computern rum, programmiert, designt und/oder lebt das Internet. Die Gruppe dient als Austausch und informiert über regelmäßige Treffen der Teilnehmerinnen.

Das nächste Treffen, das Girl Geek Dinner IV, findet am 1. Juli statt. Anmeldung und Details beim Facebook-Event oder im Wiki.
Die Veranstaltung war sehr gut besucht und es gab viele Publikumsfragen, wodurch auch die Dauer von zwei Stunden deutlich überzogen wurde. Für mich persönlich war es eine Premiere, da ich bisher zwar einige (wissenschaftliche) Vorträge und neuerdings auch Interviews gegeben habe, Diskussionen haben aber ein gewisses Überraschungselement, das sehr herausfordernd ist.
Es gibt Fotos, Audio- und Videomitschnitte, die aber noch überarbeitet werden müssen, daher erst in kurzer Zeit verfügbar sind. Ein Radiobeitrag wird demnächst als Spezialausgabe der Sendung Netwatcher in Wien auf Radio ORANGE 94.0 kommen. Hier ein Foto von den Zuschauern, andere Materialien folgen noch.
